The other day I came across a post from March of Dimes asking for crocheted super hero capes for premature babies in the NICU.  These poor little guys are battling for life and are true little super heroes.

I love playing around with creating my own original pieces. Here are some of the ideas that I have come up with.  Now to make some more and donate them,

Hopefully in the near future I will get around to writing up a pattern to share.

Constructing a Square

Here are some pictures of the stages in making a granny square for my blanket.

Darn those threads

Pun intended.  There are sure a bazillion threads to sew in.  I worked out that by the end of the project I will have sewn in over 700 threads.  That is a darn lot of thread sewing.

Putting it ALL together

The next step will be putting it all together and deciding which squares go well together. When I am done sewing in all the threads I will lay they all out together in a grid. After that I will start joining the horizontal rows. then the vertical rows.  Sounds more complicated than it really is.

Going Granny Crazy

These circles show the different colors that I have used in this blanket. They look pretty close to the actual colors.  It's hard to get the right colors on the screen.

Here are a few more examples of the blanket that I am making. (The background is supposed to be white so the colors are a little off in these pictures.)

My Crochet Buddy

I have been sitting outside on my deck enjoying the company of my crochet buddy.

Granny Square Blanket

One of my friends commissioned me to make her a granny blanket. I have decided to use my long neglected crochet blog to record my progress and experiences. When I took on the project I didn't really comprehend how long it would take me to make it.  I am excited by the challenge.

Here are some of the squares I have made so far.

Here are some close ups.
